The g7+ secretariat is honored to receive the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, H.E. Bendito Freitas at the g7+ European Hub in Lisbon Portugal.
The Minister was updated on the g7+ engagement in Lisbon and its future priorities including the g7+ plan to optimize the g7+ observer status at the United Nations. The Minister reiterated Timor-Leste’s commitment to support the g7+ and its cause including supporting the g7+ advocacy at the UN.
In his intervention, Minister Bendito stated that “A small country like Timor-Leste, at the crossroads of different influences, has always sought to invest in the practice of multilateralism, …In this sense, the Program of the IX Constitutional Government establishes as its priority objective the strengthening of cooperation with a view to implementing initiatives that lead to the development and consolidation of peace and stability within the scope of the g7+.”
The meeting was attended by Ambassadors of g7+ member states accredited to Portugal.
