The g7+ secretariat delegation led by Dr. Helder da Costa, General Secretary and accompanied by Mr. Habib Mayar, Deputy General Secretary and Ms. Emarita Carceres, Admin Assistant visited Kigali, Rwanda on 01 – 02 August 2022.
The objective of the mission was to prepare for peer learning activities between g7+ and Rwanda. This include a mission planned to take place in October in the margin of the 145th Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) session and a high level summit next year. Together with RCI (Rwanda Cooperation Initiative), the g7+ will also facilitate series of peer learning training for the g7+ members.
The delegation met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, H.E Vincent Biruta and discussed the high level summit to take place next year. Both sides agreed that the summit will be an opportunity to consolidate the voice of conflict affected countries in pursuing peace and stability using inspiring examples such as those form Rwanda and g7+ countries.

The delegation also met Permanent Secretary of Ministry of National Unity, and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE), Ms. Clarisse Munezero and agreed to host a side event on peace and reconciliation in the margins of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly this year in Kigali. The g7+ secretariat delegation discussed with the officials from the Rwanda parliament, the host of IPU to prepare for a meeting among members of Parliament from g7+ countries who will be attending the IPU assembly.
The g7+ delegation was accompanied our partner RCI. The delegation had detailed discussion with RCI team led by Ms. Rosine Urujeni on the future engagement between Rwanda and g7+.
