General Secretary Dr. Helder da Costa and Ms Ana Caetano, Legal Advisor met with the the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Morissanda KOUYATÉ, accompanied by g7+ focal point, Ms Maniamba KANDE and former focal point, Mr Ibrahim SECK.

The g7+ Secretariat led by General Secretary Dr. Helder da Costa, accompanied by Ms Ana Caetano, Legal Advisor, paid an official visit to Conakry, Republic of Guinee on 21-22 July 2022. The purpose of the visit was to update the work of the g7+ at the global level to the Government, and get the first hand perspectives on the country´s latest situation as it undergoes the transition period, post-reform.

 

The g7+ delegation met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Morissanda KOUYATÉ, the Minister of Finance and Planning H.E. Dr. Lonciné CONDE, EU Ambassador to Guinee, H.E. Jose COLL, and Dr. Dansa KOUROUMA, President of CNT (Counceil National de la Transition) members of the CNT.

The Republic of Guinee changed its presidency through a military take over in August 2021, led by Colonel Mamadi DOUMBOUYA. The new interim Government led by H.E Col.Mamadi DOUMBOUYA is now implementing the PRI (Interim Reform Programme) in 5 areas as the New Deal vision for the country within 36 months timeframe to normalize the situation, include:

  1. Stabilizing the economic and political situation
  2. Improving the employability of vulnerable people
  3. Ensuring economic stabilization to provide services and infrastructure
  4. Improving administration services
  5. Strengthening Institutions

The leaders of the country are committed to supporting the g7+ by initiating the ratification process of the g7+ Charter, participating in the g7+ activities at the United Nations and pledging the g7+ to continue advocating for peace and development at the global level.
