The g7+ is pleased to inform that H.E Dr. Francisco Guterres “Lu – Olo “, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, has signed and ordered the publication of two g7+ resolutions presented by the National Parliament (Parliament Resolution National Parliament No. 3/2020) on “The Headquarters Agreement between the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the g7+” and the (National Parliament Resolution No. 4/2020) on the “Ratification of the Charter of the g7+” on March 30, 2020. These resolutions were published in the official journal last Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
The Headquarters Agreement between RDTL and the g7+, demonstrates Timor-Leste’s commitment (as a country) to support the g7+ on peace building and state building. Timor-Leste’s exemplary leadership is highly appreciated by g7+ member states.
The ratification of the g7+ Charter by the RDTL, as well as other instruments of ratification by Afghanistan and Sao Tome and Principe, as well as by Sierra Leone (which is in the final stages of its internal ratification process), will strengthen the g7+'s efforts to register its Charter with the United Nations Treaty Division in New York. With recently obtained observer status with the United Nations General Assembly, the g7+ is now recognized worldwide as an institution with a legal.
The g7+ is also pleased to issue the Statement of Solidarity and Cooperation, calling for concerted support in our efforts to curb COVID-19. The g7+ welcomes the efforts of the VIIIth Constitutional Government to guard against COVID-19 in these difficult times in Timor-Leste
On its 10th anniversary in April 2020, the g7+ expresses its gratitude for the political, institutional, and financial support of the State of the RDTL and for the partnership with the various stakeholders in the work of the g7+, both at the national level than global.
