Call For An Immediate End To The War And Unconditional Ceasefire In The Gaza Strip And Israel
The group of Seven Plus (g7+) makes an earnest appeal to all parties to the conflict for
an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and Israel, and for the permanent
members of UN Security Council and regional and international actors to unequivocally
support this ceasefire. To alleviate the suffering of the people affected by this conflict,
we urgently call for lifting the siege against Gaza to allow humanitarian access for the
supply of life-saving and sustaining assistance to millions of civilians, and for the
release of civilians held hostage and upholding of humanitarian obligations
The international community needs to acknowledge the profound humanitarian
consequences of this latest conflict and prioritize the safety and well-being of innocent
people. The escalation of violence has led to the loss of thousands of lives, extensive
damage to infrastructure, and the forced displacement of countless individuals. These
are not just numbers; they are human souls with dreams and memories.
Over the past 3 weeks we have witnessed the epic of horror of onslaught on civilians on
both sides of the conflict whose killing, and torture can never be justified. More than 2.5
million civilians in Gaza are struggling to survive amidst the unimaginable humanitarian
catastrophe inflicted on them. Children and women are the major victims of this war.
News of atrocities carried out against them is heartbreaking. Access to food, clean water,
and medical supplies is a fundamental right that is not negotiable! Denying these
necessities to people is an unacceptable breach of human rights and a clear violation of
international law and long-standing peace resolutions.
The fear that has pervaded the lives of those affected by this for the past three weeks is
a stark reminder of the urgent need for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to
protect the well-being and rights of all individuals affected, as well as the need to finally
confront the deeply entrenched divisions and root causes of decades of conflict,
suffering and fear that fuel violence and atrocities.
We are stunned by the insensitivity of the international community in particular, the
lack of consensus by the permanent members of the UN Security council on resolutions
that could help in pursuit of ceasefire. Such inaction could contribute to the escalation
of violence in the region to an unimaginable scale.
After decades of enduring conflict in our countries, the g7+ reaffirms the necessity for a
long-lasting solution that prioritizes the safety and dignity of all people, putting an end
to the conflict between Israel and Palestine. This solution should be guided by
international law and should respect all rights to self-determination.
